Water cover for schools required

It’s coming up to the end of the year and we have a few school patrols coming up. We’re looking for anyone who is able to head down and help out, even just for a few hours and need to know numbers as there are a significant number of kids for each school.

The club receives donations from each of the schools.  As we are heading into December, it’s a good way to catch up on your hours if you think you may be short.

At this point the dates stand as follows:

8th 9.00 – 2.30 Bethany Christian School

8th 9.30 – 2.30 Thomas More College
14th 10.30 – 2.00 Hope Christian College
15th time TBA Paralowie
15th 9.00 -1.00 Alberton Primary

Let me know on 0433423187 if you’re able to help out!

Cheers,

Jen Hansen

Club Working Bee

Previous years has seen us run our Club Working Bee in September near the start of the season. The problem with that is a lot of damaged craft and other problems are forgotten over the winter period.

This year we will be running our first Club Working Bee on Sunday 29th May. Our goal is to check all gear for damage so we can plan to get it repaired over winter. Undertake a clean up and identify small and simple projects that we can complete over winter or at the next working bee.

The Working will run from 12-4pm, followed immediately by a boaties and a board/ski meeting, a BBQ and finally the club draw

If you have some time and are keen to help get the preseason started well then we would love to see you there. This is a whole club cleanup, so, many hands make light work!

Care of Equipment

Members need to remember to look after all our Equipment as it is often hard and expensive to replace. The club vehicle was found on Monday full of sand. Underneath the car, the dashboard and including in the air vents. If you use it on the beach, please ensure you wash the outside down and vacuum the inside out. If you have to deflate the tires to get on or off the beach it is YOUR job to re-inflate them. We have a compressor and tire attachment in the patrol area, it shouldn’t be up to someone else.

From Aaron-

Right – I don’t get cranky often but the careless driving of ATVs running into the old Snowy Wallace Wooden surf boat in the Patrol room is starting to get to me.  The boat is an excellent piece of rowing history is one of a few remaining wooden surf boats in the country, triple laminate wood only a few millimetres thick. We want to restore it this winter and already the original irreplaceable sponsor decal and the first layer of laminate is damaged.

“STOP RUNNING INTO IT WITH THE MULE ROOF RACK”

Please ensure we are looking after all boards and skis as we are less than 5 weeks from senior states. Getting equipment fixed now is extremely hard

Final Radio Room Date

Semaphore are rostered on to complete our final date in the radio room on Tuesday the 26th of January (Australia Day) between 11am-6pm. We are struggling to cover this date, due to regular members being interstate or already patrolling. If you are able to assist, even for a couple of hours please contact Georgia Robbins on 0408841160. No experience required, it is very straight forward and someone will be there to show you the ropes!

Radio Room 2015/16 season

Hi All,

As part of our Patrol Requirements we are required to provide 2 Bronze Medallion Holders to man the SurfCom Radio Room on three dates this season.

The dates are (between 11:30am and 6pm):

  • Sunday the 11th of October
  • Saturday the 12th of December
  • Tuesday the 26th of January (Australia Day)

If you are interested in assisting us meet these requirements please contact me on georgiarobbins47@gmail.com.

Please note no experience is required, you will be provided with sufficient supported and partnered with someone with experience.  It is not a difficult task and as long as you are Bronze Qualified you will be more than capable of handling it! Every season we struggle to meet this requirement and rely on a small number of people so would be great to increase the number of people capable of assisting as we could then split these dates into shifts, meaning a smaller commitment for all!

Do not hesitate to contact me with any questions or to express your interest, will be much appreciated!

Cheers,

Georgia Robbins
