Well the end is very close and we look forward to a great weekend on the beach at Port Elliot.

Thank you

Well done to everyone last weekend at Port Noarlunga and congratulations to those who qualified for the finals this weekend, thanks to Brad and Neville for taking the trailers down and back and again thank you for doing the same this weekend. Also thank you to our officials and a huge thanks to Barts and Tina for providing water cover for the day. If anyone can assist with water cover this weekend at Port Elliott that would be greatly appreciated.

This weekend is a new event and good luck to everyone.

As I mentioned previously Saturday will be a longer day finishing with March Past and the announcement of Junior Lifesavers of the year. A full copy of the program for the two days is available via the link below:

What else is happening at Port Elliott

For those travelling down on Friday afternoon we will be holding a short training session from 4.00pm to 5.00pm. The trailer will not be down at the beach until later on, however if you are available it will give you a chance to experience the shore break and test the water. From 7.00pm we will be holding a BBQ at the Port Elliott Beach House Hostel (13 The Strand) sausages will be provided, please bring anything else you want to cook and drinks.

On Sunday evening the Port Elliott Surf Club have invited us to their curry night and end of season wrap up. If you are traveling back on Monday please join us with the folks from Port Elliott at the club after the end of the carnival on Sunday.

Saturday March 28th from 3.30pm

Our end of season presentation will be held at the club after the traditional shaving cream fight on the beach. The shaving cream fun on the beach will commence at 3.30pm. Please remember to bring your goggles as shaving does sting the eyes. All age groups are encouraged to participate. Meals will be served from 5.00pm with adults $10 and kids $7. Choices include Fish & Chips, Beef Madras curry with rice, Chicken Schnitzel with gravy or Lemon Pepper Calamari. Ice Creams will be available. The presentation will commence once we have all eaten and we look forward to you all attending.

See you all at Port Elliott – drive safely

To make this happen we ask that everyone from all age groups bring a plate to celebrate the end of season. Boys bring a sweet plate and girls bring a savoury plate. Board Rescue Training Friday 4.30pm

We have board rescue training from 4.30pm on Friday, we thank Luke for offering his services to help out.

Port Fairy

On Friday 27th February a crew of 10 competitors and 7 supporters made the long journey down to Port Fairy in Victoria to compete in the town’s local surf carnival which was held on the Saturday afternoon and the Sunday morning.

We had an amazing time, enjoying the competition and the comaraderie a weekend like this can bring. The Vics definitely know how to run a carnival with 30 events held in 4hrs!  The results of the competitors efforts plus some photos of our weekend can be seen below.

A big shout out to Craig Lienert who donated the $500 he was awarded for being last season’s Rotary Award winner (most valued male clubbie) towards the trip which covered the competitor’s accommodation cost.  A very generous gift indeed!

Thanks also to Greg McKenzie who towed our very full trailer the 8hrs each way!

It was awesome to see everyone in the group work together to make this a successful weekend.  This is definitely something that we will consider as an annual event each season.

Night Owls Showdown

Night owls Showdown.

Tuesday night saw the much anticipated bare foot bowls clash between surfclub rivals, Semi old Boys (aka power) and Incredibowls (aka crows)

The first half saw the SOBs, Simsy, Horse, Wanga and Terry, under the guidance of Supercoach Chris Mahney, get off to a13/0 flyer only to have the crows, Jack, Leon, Sully and Neville, mount a third quarter comeback to be 16/8 down at the final break.

A 7 point end in the last snuffed out all hope for crows, as the Old Boys rushed to a 23/9 victory the whole Peninsula can be proud of.

(Please note: this report was written by a member of the winning team)
