Senior Carnival 4

Although the second half of the 2015/16 is moving along nicely SLSSA are running a little bit behind with their information sharing.

What we do know: – Senior Carnival 4 is to be held on Sunday January 24th.

What we are waiting on: – where this carnival will be held (possibly a mid-coast venue such as Middleton) and the events to be conducted.

In order to be fully prepared we are asking that nominations for this carnival (at this stage based on preferred individual and team events of all events seniors can do) be sent through to Kerry Schulz at kschulz1000@gmail.com by Tuesday 19th January 5pm.

Please keep an eye on the Club and Senior Competition Group Facebook pages for updated information that will be posted as soon as it becomes available.

Catch-up Beach Events from Senior Carnival 3

Due to the extreme heat experienced at Senior Carnival 3 (held on Sunday December 6th 2015) ALL beach events were postponed to a date to be determined in early 2016.
These events are to be conducted this Sunday January 17th at Seacliff SLSC immediately following the Junior carnival.

The events are: – sprints, flags, 2k run, beach relay.

We are waiting on final confirmation from SLSSA as to the time marshaling/competition will begin but if you entered into or are keen to enter (your name would need to have been on the Master List for this Carnival) any/all of these events please keep an eye on the Club/Senior Competition Group Facebook pages for the required information.

Updated training program

Hi everyone, please see the updated training program on the Senior Surf Sports page. Please note the change of time for Monday skis and Tuesday boards that have both moved to a 5:30 start. This is to allow people who struggle to make the 5pm start to make it to training. Also note the 5:30 start, please arrive at least 20 mins early to load gear and get ready. If you are running late, please let Sean know, we will ensure a ski is loaded, or a board if we are heading to the lake

Wednesday skis will still be a 4:45 for 5pm start due to swimming afterwards.

You will see two different presentation days one for the Under 7 and Under 8 group and one for the Under 9 to Under 13 group. The presentation day for Monday March 14 is open to all junior members and will kick off with our traditional shaving cream fight on the beach.

I have also included some details including links to two exciting and fun events coming up, the Nipperthon being held at West Beach on Saturday January 23rd and the Brighton Jetty Classic held on Sunday February 7.

Boats Corner

Great turn out for the carnival at Southport with six team. There was not much surf with an offshore breeze giving the competitors a hard row out and back.  Thanks To Neil for Jetski Cover and Dean for looking after the many Kids on the beach. Special mention to the 2nd Reserve ladies team with their first Carnival as a team – well done ladies.

Results were:

U19 Mens – 2nd

U23s Women – equal 3rd

Reserve JACCOs – 2nd in the final, 1st for the 3 rounds

Reserve TROGs – TBA

Reserve Women Angry Birds – equal 4th

Reserve Women 2nd team – 6th

Disappointed with the turn out for Packing and cleaning the equipment after the events – no junior teams at either.

Remember the next carnival is state selection 17 Jan, location TBA. Will be for the U19s and U23s.

The New Boat Naming ceremony will take place on the 6th Feb in conjunction with the presentation for the iron person.
