Fantastic effort last weekend for the Middleton carnival for the U19s and the Mature men who rowed in reserve grade.  The U19s came 2nd in their division and the Mature Men held their own gaining a lot of experience.  Great Effort For Steve Harris for his Middleton big surf debut.

I have your ASRL Hi Vis Vest. I will hand them out at each training session.

Remember next carnival 3rd Jan ASRLSA Carnival Short Course Series #3, venue to be advised. Expect all teams to be racing so put it in your diaries now.

 

Juniors Update

Hi Everyone,

 

  • Early Start 9.00am Saturday 19 December due to the hot weather, we need to keep the reindeer cool so we are going to start early. Please refer to the attached flyer
  • Congratulations to everyone who competed at Port Elliot on the weekend and big thanks to the Port Elliott Surf Lifesaving Club who included us in their Saturday training schedule, well done to everyone who competed in their first away carnival. Many thanks to everyone who helped over the weekend.
  • Pool swimming – Wednesday 16 December 7.00-8.00pm last session before we return on Wednesday January 6 2016 at 7.00pm
  • Friday 15 December – 5.00pm-6.00pm Board Training – last session before we return on Friday 8 January 2016
  • We resume normal Saturday Training 9 January 2016 at our normal start time.

Radio Room

We are in urgent need of Bronze Medallion Holders to help complete our rostered hours in the Radioroom this coming Saturday (the 12th of December).

No experience required, you will be shown what to do, it is very straight forward.

If you are free, even for a few hours please let me know as we are struggling to find anyone and we must meet our requirements with SLSSA.

Carnival this weekend

The location will be announced this Wednesday. I will post on boaties facebook page as soon as I know.  Please give me nomination by CoB Tuesday. Boat Packing will be Friday 1800. Will be looking for volunteers for towing the boat down as I will be coming from Port Elliot from the junior carnival.

 

NATIONAL SELECTION – Australian Surf Boat Test Team

Crews are reminded that they must complete the Official SLSA nomination form to be eligible to compete for selection as the Australian Surf Boat Test Team.

Open Male & Female Test team:
The selection trial will be held at Elouera on Sunday 20 Dec 2015 commencing at 8am. No other restriction applies and any crew that completes the nomination form will be included into the draw.

U23 Development team:
The selection event with be the Manly carnival on Sat 23 Jan 2016. The highest placed crew from those nominated will be the selected crew and the event will be conducted as per the Manly carnival program.

For selection into The Australian Surf Boat Teams both test and Development, all nominations must be submitted via the Survey Monkey link by: 11pm, Sunday 13th December 2015. To be considered for either team you must complete and lodge the nomination form in this attachment. Late nominations can’t be accepted.

Juniors Update

Hi Everyone,

 

  • Congratulations to everyone who participated in Wave Warriors last Saturday at Henley a fantastic result from all of you.
  • Pool swimming – Please note, anyone participating in pool swimming in the 7.00-8.00pm timeslot must have a parent present – no parent = NO SWIM.
  • Friday 12 December  & Saturday December 12– There will be no Junior Training at Semaphore with the carnival being held at Port Elliott on Sunday December 13.
  • Junior Training (Under 9 – Under 13) will be held at Port Elliott from 1-3pm will be joining Port Elliott and training with them on the day, they have a sausage sizzle at their club at the end of training and a special visitor for the kids.
  • For those attending the carnival this Sunday if you are participating in March Past you need to be at the Port Elliott on the beach by 8am – all others by 8.30am to sign in with your age group.
  • For those staying Sunday night Port Elliott will have a curry night at the club from 6pm
  • The uniform shop will be open from 6.30pm to 7.30pm on Thursday 10 December during the members draw, don’t forget $1000.00 this week. Good Luck!.
  • Saturday December 19– normal start time don’t forget to bring your plate for afterwards

Nipper Training 12 December

Due to the next Junior Carnival being at Port Elliot on the 13th there will be no training at the club this Friday or Saturday (this includes U14s on Saturday only).

 

Further details will be released shortly about the weekend at Port Elliot for those that are travelling.

Next Carnival is on the midcoast Sunday 13th December-venue to be advised Wednesday before. This is the same day as the junior carnival so I think it will just be the U19M and U23W. any other crews that are interested please let me know.

Juniors Weekly Update

Coming Up this week

  • Board Training Friday evening from 5.00pm to 6.00pm. This week will be at the Club.

  • This Saturday will have a club swim at the conclusion of training

Senior Carnival 3 – Sunday 6th December

Senior Carnival 3 is on this Sunday 6th December at South Port. We are expecting extreme weather conditions (approx 40 degrees) so please ensure you bring plenty of water, sunscreen and dress for the conditions!

Trailer loading will occur Saturday afternoon after the Club Swim (approx 4pm) so if you are competing please make sure you are available to load craft or organise for support from someone else if you can’t make it to the club at this time.

Everyone is to be on the beach by 7.30am (you will be notified should this change) on Sunday as with the heat we would expect events to get underway early.

We will come back to the club for meals and presentations from 5.30pm with ALL members welcome. Happy hour will be on from 5.30-6.30pm.

The menu for the night at $10 each includes: –
Chicken or Beef Schnitzel
Served with chips & your choice of gravy, mushroom or pepper sauce
Beef Korma
Mild beef curry with onion & potato served with a steamed rice and a pappadum
Warm Chicken Salad
Grilled chicken tenderloins, mixed lettuce, carrot, cucumber, red capsicum, Spanish onion & sun-dried tomatoes served with or without a balsamic dressing (GF)
Vegetarian Burger
Pumpkin & chickpea pattie with lettuce, tomato, cheese & mayo on a burger bun served with chips
Fish & Chips
Crispy beer battered flathead served with chips

Club Swim – Saturday 5th December

On Saturday 5th December we will be holding a Club Swim.

All proficient members (those in juniors need to have completed their timed swim) are encouraged to ‘have a go’.
Marshaling will be at 3.15pm for a 3.30pm start.

All of those that complete the swim will be given a numbered paddle pop stick. These are to be put in the container that will be on the bar upstairs. Prizes wil be awarded at the conclusion of the swim with 5 prizes awarded to 5 lucky participants. You don’t have to win the swim to win a prize!

Please note that at present we are expecting a temperature on Saturday of 38 degrees!!
