Training Patrols

The First Training Patrol of the season was well attended by a range of people training for both SRC and Bronze, some using it as a refresher and others starting from scratch. The group concentrated on The Human Body, Defibrillation and basic oxygen and Radio Operation as well as waterwork.  4 out of the 6 Patrols will have a trainer to support our commitment to getting members qualified.

If interested in completing any qualifications this season please contact Jennie on instructor@semaphoreslsc.com.au

Nipper Parent Information Session – Moved to 20th October

The Parent Information Session originally set for this Saturday (13th October) has been cancelled once we conform access to the upstairs area of the Club we will advise of a new date .  Apologies for any inconvenience.

Come and Try Update

After the weekend now have x Come and Try Nippers, and with the forecasted temps in the upper 20’s were sure to see more.

With this in mind we are calling for old (but not extremely faded) hi-vis tops to supplement our supply for come and try.  Please drop them to the Come and Try desk downstairs on Saturday.

Or find Steph and give them to her.

Remember: if you see someone looking a bit doubtful or lost please reach out and lend a hand.  Semaphore has long been known as the Family Club and we want to keep that tradition going in action as well as name and spirit.

Reminder – Semaphore Juniors Facebook Group

Semaphore SLSCJuniors now have their own Facebook group. This is a closed Facebook group meant for Parents of Semaphore Surf Life Saving Club Nippers and we will be posting all Junior Training and Carnival information via this group throughout the season. Use the link below to request access.

https://www.facebook.com/groups/Sema4Nippers/

Please note that you will be asked 2 questions which will allow us to ensure that members of the Group are restricted to Parents/Guardians. This is to ensure the privacy of our Nippers should we post photos etc.  Only those confirmed as members from the questions will be granted access.

Semaphore SLSC Media – Carnival Photographers (no experience necessary)

SLSSA have relaxed the maximum of 5 Club Media Personnel (photographers) this allows us to spread the responsibility for taking photos at carnivals. In response to this I would like to ask for nominations from among parents of all age groups.  This way we can pass a camera and vest from group to group to group to accredited people to take photos for your Age Group.

Benefits include being able to be inside the competition area during events, availability of more photos of each Age Group to display at the post Carnival wrap ups and during the season, as well as more for parents to access of their own child.

No previous experience is required, what is required is a Police Clearance (a free one can be organised through the club), a Club Media Form and a short training session with Steph Breden on how the cameras work and your away.

Email Steph on juniorsec@semaphoreslsc.com.au or see me at training.

We are pleased to advise that the kitchen will be up and running again from Friday 19th October for dinner, with our dedicated kitchen staff returning after a long break whilst our renovations have been undertaken.

Demand will be high for the first night so we will be limiting the number of diners to 100. Bookings will therefore be essential so you don’t miss out.

Please call the club on 8449 8088 to register your booking.

From thereafter meals will be served every Thursday and Friday from 6pm.

We hope to see you all very soon.

Social and Fund Raising Committee

Social and Fundraising Committee

It’s been a while since the club had a social and fundraising committee but we would like to start this important group up again.

If you have any ideas for social events and/or fundraising – or would just like to be involved we would welcome you joining this new group.

We will not be asking for too much of your time with the first priority to plan a calendar of events and activities for members and supporters (young and old).

An informal meeting will be held upstairs at the club on Sunday 21st October at 3pm for those that are interested in joining in.

For further information please give Pat Hansen a call on 0422 007 413 or email at phansen@adam.com.au.
