Thank You from Amelia – Chiton Youth Camp Participant

If you thought that we were a bit light on with our Age Group Assistants at Nippers last week you were right.

No, it wasn’t the weather that kept them away it was a Training Camp arranged by the Senior Sports Coordinator (Alana Birrell) along with the Youth/Seniors Coaches (Sean McKenzie, Danny Humphrey and Nick Schulz) and long time Surf Mum (Megan Tunney).  10 boys and 8 girls left on Friday afternoon headed for the Chiton Rock SLSC Camp where they spent the weekend training when they could, participating in challenges like being the fastest to put on a full wetsuit (steamer) and a Semaphore SLSC history quiz to name a few. Unfortunately they headed back early on Sunday because water quality made it impossible for them to train further, but by all accounts everyone had a great time and the small amount of training they did do was well worth the trip.

The camp was so appreciated by one Youth Member that she wanted to thank the organisers and fellow participants herself. Thank You Amelia!!

Thank you so much again for everyone’s help. Bigsy for organising the room fees, Alana and Mum for being ‘responsible’ adults and organising the games and the food and everything in between. Nick and Danny for cooking the barbecue and the laughs and coming out in the water and taking all the extra things that didn’t fit in the rest of the cars. Kara and all the mums that baked goods for us to eat, Kat for organising the food. Thanks Sean for driving and cooking, setting up the trailer and boards. Not only that but helping us under 14s in the water down at Middleton.
Most most of all thank you to all of the kids that came along. Me personally, I have made some life long friends here at this club and spending the weekend away with you all has really made me appreciate all of you.
So thank you to everyone that was involved in the making of it, and all the memories that were made.
Amelia TChiton Camp Youth Participant
