Recruiting for 2019/20 Nipper Season

The 2019/20 Surf Season is fast approaching with junior training planned to kick off on Saturday 12th October 2019.  As such we are looking for people to continue to be engaged, or become involved, in our Nipper program to assist in making this a successful season. If you have a child involved in the program then it’s a way to get actively involved. If you are a member that is no longer involved in Nippers you are still very welcome to re-engage with the Nipper Program where your skills and experience would be welcomed and greatly appreciated.

There are both official and non-official positions to be filled for all age groups.  It is important to understand that all positions are being declared open so that any one of our many Members may nominate.  The positions will be supported and there is also a wealth of resources from Surf Life Saving SA that can be made available to assist any new Age Group Managers with the role. You need no previous Surf Life Saving experience.

In addition we are requesting all members to consider taking on specialist coaching roles which would see them work with all the competition age groups (Under 8 to Under 13) intermittently during the season.  We are happy to discuss your involvement and work around your schedules.  We feel that you could make a huge impact in building our programme and improve our Nippers skills both for training, competition and as the next generation of Patrolling Members.

Success for Semaphore at the State Pool Championships

On Sunday 7th July, Semaphore had two members representing the club at the 2019 State Pool Championships.

Raelene Donnell was on pool deck all day organising medals and collating results in her capacity as an official. Raelene continues to represent the Club well, with her tireless efforts to support competitors. Another champion performance!

Meantime Connor Tunbridge competed in the under 17 age group, pick up a swag of medals along the way! Here are his results:

Gold in the 200m Super Lifesaver

Bronze  in the 100m Manikin Tow with fins

Bronze in the 200m Obstacle Race

Bronze in the 100m Rescue Medley

Connor also filled in with other clubs in composite relay teams where another bronze medal was collected in a team from South Port.

With good individual results Connor has been rewarded with a place in the South Australian team that will compete in the interstates competition on the Gold Coast in August.

This will be followed up by 2 days competing in the Australian Pool Championships following the interstates competition. A brilliant effort from the youngster!
