Somerton Junior Carnival Sunday 11th December

Don’t forget all your surf attire (bathers, club cap, high vis top, sun safe top, hat, towel and label everything), plenty of sunscreen, water and food. Don’t forget to bring a smile, a positive attitude and be ready to have a go, do your best and have fun!

8:30am– U8, U9, U10s meet at the club tent
9:15am – U8, U9, U10 age groups arrive at designated first event area
9:30am– U8, U9, U10 first event commences
10:45am– U11, U12, U13 two person R&R teams marshalling
11:00am– U11, U12, U13 two person R&R starts
12:45pm– U8, U9, U10 completion of events
– March Past marshalling
– U11, U12, U13s not competing in March Past meet at club tent
1:00pm– March Past starts

Flood assistance thanks to Rhys Krauter!

Recently, fellow club member Rhys Krauter volunteered to assist those affected by the floods.

Rhys write of his recent experience:

“We were attending water locked properties and house boats on behalf of SAPOL and SES to gather data on how many residents are still at their properties and what their plans were should the levels continue to rise. You would be surprised the number of people who are still at their properties and the back up plans they have in place. We also assisted in re-securing a couple of houseboats (including a couple in their 80s) as their existing moorings were now underwater.

It was an awesome experience and recommend anyone else in the club to put their hands up if there is another opportunity.

Ps the water at the Morgan marker rose by 40cm in 48hours!”

Proficiencies, we’re nearly there!

Proficiencies are going really well with 85% of our patrol members now fully proficient!

We have one last opportunity to get the last 16 members up to date before the end of the year; this Saturday 10th December from 0900 – 1200.

We are also able to do IRB driver proficiencies for those that need them if you’re keen!

Thanks to the whole training team for their efforts to get everyone through in record time, you’re all legends!
