Patrol Update – November

Hi all,

Patrols have been running for just over a month and last weekend marked the completion of each groups first patrol! We just wanted to take this opportunity to thank everyone for their contribution!

We have seen a massive increase in numbers in all patrol groups, with 98% of rostered members attending their patrols, or finding a suitable fill in. Each patrol has had at least 10 members attend which is a massive improvement on previous seasons. We have also seen the return of many old faces back into the patrol area which is fantastic.

We understand that the changes that were made this season were quite significant but we thank everyone for cooperating with such a positive attitude!

We would also like to thank our team of Patrol Captains and Vice Captains who have contributed significantly in lifting morale in the patrol area.

So far there are no major incidents or rescues to report but we will continue to update you throughout the season.

We are now entering the busier months of the patrolling period, with additional school patrol dates coming up so we will be looking for voluteers to help us out on these days with some rather large school groups.

Semaphore SLSC were already a strong club in terms of patrol but this season sees us take things to a whole new level. So well done team!

Thanks,

Alex Reid and Georgia Robbins

Club Captain and Vice Captain

Did you get a parking expiation notice at Semafest from Charles Sturt Council?

It has come to the club’s attention that a number of people have received parking expiation notices from Charles Sturt Council on the day of Semafest. We have had advice from the officer in charge of compliance that these orders may be reconsidered. If you have received an expiation notice during Semafest please comment below or on Facebook so that we can get an idea of the actual number of people’s vehicles that were ticketed.

We recommend that you call (08) 8408 1111 and speak to Donna in the Parking Control and Compliance section before making payment of the expiation notice.

Thanks for the Semafest support.

A Massive thank you to all our Sponsors and Everyone who helped out & supported Semafest, we have had amazing feedback, it has certainly put Semaphore Surf Life Saving Club on the map.

The Low Down on Semaphore Heroes

Whilst attending a work function for the Adelaide Submarine Corporation last Saturday evening two of our members and age groups managers from our junior club Aaron & Kirsty Low parents of McKenzie (U12) & Bill (U10) had a colleague attending the function suffer the misfortune of having a Heart Attack where Aaron & Kirsty rendered assistance with an off duty nurse and commenced CPR on the unconscious patient , with no signs of life from the patient they used an onsite portable Defibrillation Unit and after two “shocks” the gentleman regained conscious and was made comfortable until the arrival of Paramedics who took over and relieved our Club Members.

Thankfully the patient is recovering well in hospital and we are very proud to have Aaron & Kirsty members of the Semaphore Surf Life Saving Club.

As with all Surf Life Saving Members this is a great example that first aid is not just along our coastal beaches , great effort guys.
