Annual General Meeting wrap-up

Semaphore SLSC held its 67th Annual General Meeting last weekend, with more than 60 members attending.

President Paul Breden has been re-elected for another term.  He’s looking forward to the year ahead after some challenging times over the past twelve months, getting through the impact of COVID-19.

We are still seeking your support to fill a number of important roles at the Club:

Touring Team Manager

The Junior Sports Officer and Junior Sports Secretary are particularly important roles as they take care of the Nippers program.  If you are interested there will be significant support to ease you into the role.

Bunnings BBQ – volunteers needed

Call out to volunteers to help us manage the BBQ at Woodville Bunnings on Saturday 29th August.
Roster as follows:

  • 7:30am – 10:30am – start at the club, set up, ready to be serving food by 9am – full
  • 10:30am – 1:30pm – two volunteers required
  • 1:30pm – 4:30pm – close cash up and return to the club – three volunteers required

Please note that there are changes regarding service and numbers of people in the tents, along with higher turnover of helpers. These details can be explained to you on the day.

The bar is open from 4 – 8pm Saturday and Sunday.

Teen Mental Health First Aid Training

Glenelg surf life saving, in conjunction with SLSSA & Cathy McCarthy Consulting are running the first in a series of first aid courses focused on mental health.

Members from all clubs aged 16 – 18 years are invited to attend.

Bar open this weekend

Enjoy a quiet drink and catch up overlooking Semaphore beach this weekend. The bar is open from 4 – 8pm Saturday and Sunday.

Due to some restrictions being reimposed this week, patrons will need to be seated at tables and continue to comply with social distancing. A reminder the bar is cashless. If unwell, please stay home.

Your support in working with us to allow the club to stay open safely is appreciated and we look forward to seeing you at the club.

2019/20 Nipper Presentation Day

The 2019/20 Season Nipper Presentation Day will be held on the 29th August 2020.

With the current COVID-19 restrictions placed upon the club we are requesting that our Members RSVP and name attendees for this event.  Depending on numbers we are considering several different options for how that day will run so that we can celebrate together as a whole group.

Call for EOIs – Lifesaving Competition Events Panel

Surf Life Saving SA is seeking Expressions of Interest from members to join the Lifesaving Competition Events Panel in the role of:

  • Chair
  • General Members (4 to 7 positions)

The Lifesaving Competition Events panel makes recommendations to the Surf Sports Advisory Committee on issues related to lifesaving competition events, specifically Rescue & Resuscitation (R&R), March Past, First Aid Competition, Champion Patrol & Champion Lifesaver events.
