Club Swimwear
Thanks to the efforts of many, this season we are looking to change our Club Swimwear provider to FINZ. FINZ are generally accepted as being a quality provider of Club Apparel and as many of you would already know, are always a busy Vendor at both Senior and Junior Carnivals each year, due to the recognised quality of their products.
Semaphore SLSC, along with many of our metropolitan counterparts, have decided to ‘Order by Demand’ this season. The benefit of this method is that stock holding costs are not passed on to Club Members. The first and most pressing items are Club Swimwear. Whilst it is not compulsory that club members compete in Club Swimwear, it is a great sign of our Club spirit that all our competing members look part of our Club. There are two options for Female competitors (a Single Piece & a 2-Piece Bather) and two options for Male competitors (Speedo-style & Jammer Style) as displayed below. Delivery times are expected to be approximately 6 weeks from date of order. Details of how you register your interest & place an order will be provided on the first day of Nippers this Saturday (for Juniors) & via Sean McKenzie (Seniors)

Due to the generous & grateful support of BluBuilt Constructions, the cost of the Club Swimwear will be further subsidised for those Club Members who order prior to the 13th of October. Please find below the subsidised pricing for the Club Swimwear items:

Club Shirts
We will also be purchasing a new style Club Shirt from FINZ. Similarly, to Club Swimwear, Club Shirts will not be held in Stock & will be a ‘Order on Demand’ item. The sample design of the Shirt is pictured below. Sizes ranges from Kids Size 10 up to Adult 3XL. It is expected that the cost of the Shirts will be $55.00 per shirt. The shirts are Sun-Smart & look terrific either on the Beach or around the Club. The only catch is that we need a minimum order of 100 Shirts, so we need your support to get the first batch up & running. A sample of the shirt will be available for viewing at the Club on Nippers Opening Days of 6th & 13th of October. (Please note the design on the back of the Shirt has not yet been confirmed).

Volunteers Required – Lifesaving World Championships 2018

We are looking for 12 Volunteers from each club for the following positions during the Lifesaving World Championships 2018.
- Administration Assistant (phone and email queries, customer service, computer/office tasks)
- Accreditation Assistant (assembly of participant packs, verify registrations, customer service)
- Workforce Welfare Assistant (oversee volunteers, point of contact for volunteer queries etc.)
- Media Assistant (photography, social media, cataloguing images & video)
- Greeters (street team, meet & greet participants, help and assist with directions, traffic flow)
- Hospitality Assistant (cook & serve BBQ, distribution of lunches, serving food & drinks)
- Operations Assistant (work closely with LWC staff, set up/pack down, physical operation/logistics)
- Driver (driving guests between venues, recoding vehicle trips in logbook and refueling)
- Marshal (managing and maintaining foot/traffic in pool areas, beach areas & parking areas)
Volunteer services will be required from Monday 12th November up to and including Tuesday 4th December 2018 at Glenelg beach and the South Australian Aquatic and Leisure Centre at Marion.
Shifts will be 0600-1100, 1100-1630, 1630-2200. You do not have to commit to the whole event.
Volunteers will receive a LWC2018 uniform, be provided with refreshments during shifts, and receive an invitation to the Volunteer Thank You function.

30 Year Anniversary of Semaphore SLSC at Point Malcolm Reserve – Sunday 7th October

It’s been an eventful week with lots of little bits and pieces finally going in to place.
At the start of any season there are many newcomers across all age groups, and I’m sure we tried and true members can all remember starting and being very unfamiliar with Surf Life Saving practices so if you see anyone looking lost or not sure what to do next reach out and lend a helping hand. Semaphore Surf Life Saving Club has long been known as a Family Club and we want to ensure that that tradition continues.
Nipper Facebook Group
The SSLSC Nippers will have their own Facebook Group this year, which will hopefully launch with the start of the season, making it a one stop shop for all Nipper related information. Keep a look out for more news here.
Attire Requirements for ALL Training Sessions
The required mandatory attire for all training sessions are Broad Brimmed Hat, Long Sleeved Rashie /Training Top as well as;
Hi-Vis Top
Accepted colours are Yellow / Pink / Combination Pink-Yellow purchased from last years State Titles. Green will not be accepted as per Surf Life Saving SA guidelines.
Club Caps
The club caps must be worn at all training sessions, this includes board training.

Nippers is a wonderful way to be involved in a healthy lifestyle and connect with our unique and friendly Coastal Community. We are a family Club and welcome new members. Some of our Nippers parents have gone on to gain qualifications themselves and are now serving the community patrolling our beaches as Surf Life Savers. Being a part of our Club can bring you and your family so many benefits. If you are already involved please share this information with your friends. Membership Registration Day this Sunday!
Looking to join the Semaphore SLSC or ready to renew your membership? You can join or renew online straight away or if you prefer the face to face experience we will be having our annual Membership Registration Day on Sunday 23rd September between 2 and 5pm.
The Bar in our refurbished Clubrooms will be open so come down and enjoy a drink among friends.
Please bring along your electronic devices (i.e. Phone, iPad etc.) to help facilitate the online registration process. We’ll be there to assist to make it as straight-forward and painless as possible (pending the vagaries of Telstra’s NBN service & the Server speed!!)
If you can’t make it this weekend there will also be opportunities to register on the first few Saturday’s of Nippers (6th & 13th of October from 12pm to 3pm).

Semaphore SLSC preparing to celebrate its 30 year Anniversary
On Sunday 7th October 2018 Semaphore SLSC will celebrate the Club’s 30 year Anniversary at Point Malcolm Reserve.
We would like to invite all members past and present and supporters of the club that have been involved at some stage over the past 30 years (and indeed the past 60 years) to come down, enjoy the newly renovated clubrooms, share a few stories and catch up with old friends.
The event will kick off at 3pm and there will be Bar specials throughout the afternoon, with complimentary food served.
