Saturday Winter Trading – Volunteer Staff and Change to Opening Hours 4pm to 7pm

You may have seen the request in recent weeks for volunteers to run the bar on Saturday afternoons.  While this did not receive the level of support we were hoping for, it has provided enough volunteers to trial this approach.

As surf lifesaving is primarily a summer pastime, we know the winter months mean less visitors to the club and less trade.  History tells us Thursday and Friday bistro and Sunday afternoons remain more popular with members and the public, while Saturdays often see family commitments, winter sports and weather conditions keeping people away.

Our function business is slowly starting to pick up and we are working to grow this in the coming months, our goal is to make Saturday operations more sustainable and continue to provide a place for members to catch up and stay connected, our volunteer staffing model and adjustment to opening hours supports this.

How can you support this? We ask if you have a free Saturday and an hour or two spare, please come down and support our club.

CALL FOR VOLUNTEER WINTER BAR STAFF

To support Club operations in the winter months we would like to implement a Volunteer Bar Staff Roster.

The roster is for Saturday afternoons only running from June to August.

Candidates must

  • Be a Current Member; and hold
  • Responsible Persons Badge and Responsible Service of Alcohol Cert; or
  • Responsible Service of Alcohol Cert

If you meet these requirements and are interested in helping please contact Paul at pres@semaphoreslsc.com.au or text 0459 442 802 by Sunday 29th May 2022.

Volunteers will receive all training and support to perform the role.

If you don’t hold a qualification, OR have any questions or interest to learn more please let Paul know.

Thank you

SLSSA IWD Photo Op

Surf Life Saving SA are setting up a statewide all-in photoshoot for to mark this year’s International Women’s Day (IWD), celebrating our amazing female members, to feature in The Advertiser and our social media channels.

As such all the special women members who contribute to our club, are in invited to take part in the statewide shoot:

WHEN:

12PM Noon, 6th of March (Photo to run on the 8th of March)

Photo will be taken at exactly 12:05pm.

WHERE:

Seacliff’s Pink Patrol Tent- we’ve also arranged for the Lifesaving assets to be in attendance with female crew.

WHO:

Any South Australian female member

(Please wear current patrol uniform or club gear)

They understand this time/location may not suit everyone but found it would be easiest with many already on the beach for the Masters State Titles. No pressure at all for members to come along but they wanted to extend the invite to those who would be interested.  It won’t be announced over the PA system but any Masters athletes invited by Club Presidents etc. will know to make their way over at this time if they have a gap in competing.

For more information contact sam.okely@surflifesavingsa.com.au
