Junior Carnival and Presentation

The first of this season’s Junior Carnivals is on this Sunday with Club members travelling to Port Noarlunga.  It looks like we’ll receive some warm weather for the event so it should be a great day on the beach.

So come along and support our juniors and the Club!

Canteen Specials this week

Canteen specials at the Club this week include $1 toasties, $4 Wedges and the ever popular $5 Nugget rolls!

Support your Club before and after Nippers training by grabbing a drink and something to eat.  A great way to fuel up after a busy afternoon on the beach!

Nippers beats the nasty weather

Well it would have been tough going at the Senior Carnival today but Nippers scored some great weather on Saturday.  It’s so wonderful to see so many of our young members sharing their knowledge and experience with our little ones this season.  Many of the Assistant coaches are Seniors, like Ella Edwards pictured taking the Under 7’s through a Flags session, that have only just finished in Nippers in the last couple of years themselves.  This is what our Club is all about.

It was a tough gig on Patrol Saturday, watching the sky-divers do their thing and patrolling the beach in almost perfect conditions.  If you are a parent and want to get more involved consider challenging yourself by becoming a patrol member at the Club.  There’s plenty of training opportunities.

See you on the beach next weekend!

Junior Board training off to a great start

It was an excellent turn out for the first Junior Board training of the season, with some choppy conditions challenging our youngsters.

Provided we reach our required quota for water cover training will take place again next Friday.  Keep an eye out for the confirmed location and starting time.

Please note to take part in this training the junior member must be proficient.  If they achieved proficiency last year this carries over until the beginning of December and they are ok to train.  All new Club members, as well as Under 8 and 9’s that haven’t passed their proficiency swim this season must wait for this to occur before joining in on a Friday night.  This is to ensure the Club provides the safest possible environment for our children.

Junior Board and Swimming training

Board training is back Friday so please be at the club at 5pm for a 5:15pm start.  This week we will be training out the front of the Club.

Meantime swimming training on a Wednesday night at the Largs Bay Swim Centre will begin soon.  Again, junior members must be proficient to attend this training.  It is in no way a swimming lesson, rather an opportunity for junior members to train in preparation for Carnival competition.  If your child requires lessons this should be done through a local swim school.

A date for the commencement of junior swimming training will be announced very soon.

Under 8 Age Manager announced ahead of Nippers Week 2

Congratulations and thank you to Paige Purdie, who has been announced as Under 8 Age Manager for the 2017/2018 Nippers season.  Paige comes to the position with a wealth of surf life saving knowledge and is a much loved and committed member of the Club.

Nippers gets underway at 12:45 tomorrow.  It will be cool on the beach so make sure you have some warm clothes to throw on!

Age Manager sought as Nippers gets off to a great start!

We still have one position in our junior team available.  We are seeking an Under 8 Age Manager.

This could be your chance to get down on the beach and lead our youngsters in a healthy weekend activity that will give them skills for life.

No surf life saving skills are required, just a commitment to support children to grow and learn in a Club that prides itself on a family atmosphere.  Support and training will be available throughout the season.

Meantime board training will start next Friday (October 27th).  We require a minimum of four people for water cover so please see Junior Convener Bruce Moseley on Saturday to register.  Without the required water cover training will be cancelled due to safety regulations.

On a positive note we had a great turn out for the first Nippers session on Saturday with 59 registered come and try’s.

A reminder that Under 8’s are on Canteen duty this week.

See you on the beach again this Saturday.  Meet on the grass outside the Clubrooms at 12:45pm.
