Masters Success on the World Stage
Congratulations to our Masters representatives who competed in the Lifesaving World Championships this week.
Sean McKenzie was in the pool representing the Masters at Marion over the weekend. He placed 6th in the 200m obstacle race, 9th in the 50m manikin carry and 13th in the 100m manikin tow with fins.
He then hit Glenelg beach where he picked up a 4th in the swim, 9th in the board and ski, and 5th in Ironperson. Tina Williams completed the swim on the same day. Brilliant effort from both!
Sean, Heather Eckert and Kate Newman braved horrid conditions on Wednesday. Sean finishing the 2km run in 11th position, Kate in 8th position.
Sean competed in the sprints, completing his first heat. Kate got blown over the starting line by the wind and was disqualified for a false start in her heat!
Heather had success in her first Sprint heat, finishing 5th and claiming a spot in the semi-final until officials changed the intake to 4.
Due to the weather no-one competed in the Flags.
A massive effort from all of our Masters over the week.
We now look forward to seeing our youngsters in action.
Cooper Clee and Ella Andrews hit the sand 27th – 29th November.
Nic Schulz and Connor Tunbridge will be in action 30th November – 2nd December.
We wish them all well and are proud that the Club will be represented on an International stage.
