Somerton Signature Challenge

Well done to the 6 competitors that took on the Somerton Signature Challenge on Sunday 21st December.

First Patrol Raid of the Season

Last Saturday Semaphore had their first Patrol Raid of the 2014/15 season. Brooksy’s Patrol, Captained by Alex Cole and VC Sam Brown did an outstanding job scoring 900/930 or 96%!
Notably around 20 members signed onto patrol yesterday in addition to the very important water cover team!
We are so impressed by the continued commitment, support and overall success coming from the patrol area this season!
So hats off to all those who were on patrol, you have certainly set the bar high.
Wishing you all a Merry Christmas!
Cheers,
Alex Reid and Georgia Robbins

Exciting news for Semaphore SLSC!

Dear Members ,

Some very exciting news that I think we should share with our members with regards to our Proposed Club Redevelopment.

I recently met at the Semaphore Surf Life Saving Club with Mayor Angela Keneally of Charles Sturt Council and also Sam Higgins from the Charles Sturt Council  who is the Coordinator of Open Space , Planning , Policy & Assets along with the CEO of Surf Life Saving SA, Clare Harris to discuss the proposed redevelopment of our Club.

We have lodged a formal “Planning Application” with the council for a proposed shed to be built on the “Crown Land” and the redevelopment of the Club based on the Concept Plans that have recently been circulating the Club. BothMayor Keneally & Sam agreed in principle that it is a fantastic idea.

After looking through our club upstairs & downstairs and reviewing our Concept Plans both Mayor Keneally & Sam thought that the shed would be a great offsite storage facility and the redevelopment of our club would be supported by the Charles Sturt Council. It is early days but the ball is formally rolling now.

Being a Cat 3 development notifications will be set out to all residents within 60 meters of the development so unless the local rabbit population make a complaint things are looking very promising and the development would be put forward to the February Council meeting for a decision & hopefully a recommendation of endorsement.

We have a lot of hurdles to get over but with the strength & depth of our Club & support from our members we are at a very exciting time for the next chapter in the History of the Semaphore Surf Life Saving Club.

Remember don’t forget that the Breakfast Menu is starting up soon which is another massive step in the direction we need to go in.

Regards

Neil B

Membership update for December

Anyone who has not renewed their membership for the current season has now had their record archived and their membership card suspended. As a non-financial member you are unable to patrol or compete in any carnivals. If you wish to renew your membership this can be done online through the Lifesaving Online system. You will need to create a lifesaving account if you don’t already have one, renew your membership and then you can pay online as well.
