All these training sessions begin with a meeting at the usual muster place

Board Training – Friday 4:45pm
R&R  Training 5 Person – Friday 6pm (after Board Training)
R&R  Training 2 Person U12 & U13  – Saturday 9:30am and 10:30am
March Past – Team B – Saturday 11:45am | Team A – Saturday 12:00pm
Nipper Surf Training – Saturday 12:45pm
R&R Training 2 Person U11 – Saturday 3:00pm


Under 7 – Junior Training 9th February

Great News Under 7’s just cause the rest of us are off in Pt Elliot preparing for the Carnival doesn’t mean you won’t have a training session.

Yes, Training will continue as usual for you with Muster at the usual time of 12:45pm with Cathy your Age Group Manager and Ashleigh.

Theres a few loose ends to tie up but I’m sure that I can find the right volunteers to ensure this can all go-ahead.


09th-10th Feb Junior Training and Junior Carnival #3 Port Elliot

Nippers Training 9th Feb

As usual with a Port Elliot Carnival, and with the amount of families that choose to stay at or around Port Elliot for the weekend, Training has been arranged in conjunction with the Port Elliot Nippers on Saturday 9th of February. Training will start at the usual time with a quick muster on the beach.

Water Cover 

As usual with an away training we need to provide our own water cover, so any qualified Parents or Siblings that can help in this regard would be greatly appreciated.

And of course on the day of Carnival, we will again require Water Cover, 2 people at any one time at least 1 of them a Bronze Medal Holder.

Officials

In addition Semaphore is also required to provide 3 Officials for this carnival so anyone able to help in this regard please contact Junior Surf Secretary, Stephanie Breden on 0429 046 362 .

Dinner Saturday Night – Royal Family Hotel – Port Elliot 9th Feb

On Saturday 9th of February an area has been reserved at Royal Family Hotel – Port Elliot for Dinner. The area is in the Beer Garden and will be available from 6pm. The menu is available here https://www.royalfamilyhotel.com.au

Junior Carnival #3 – 10th Feb

Your Age Group Managers will be asking for nominations for this carnival at training on Saturday, this is the last day for nominations to be notified. Don’t forget to be eligible to compete at States you must have competed in a Junior Carnival during the season.

Competition Fees and Proficiencies

At this point in the season it is important to understand the following

  1. Only Nippers that have achieved all required Competencies for their Age Group and have competed in at least 1 of the 3 Junior Carnivals will be eligible to be entered in the Junior State Championship Carnivals. Competencies include both Swimming Proficiency Tests and Surf Education Modules. To understand the required competencies please speak to your Age Group Manager.
  2. You must have paid the Competition Fee which is normally paid as part of Membership but can also be paid afterwards. The Registrar will be providing us with a list of those who have not met this criteria.

Movie Night

16th Feb

We are holding a Family Movie Night at the club to be held on the 16th of February.  

Details are –

  • From 6pm with movies starting at approx. 6:30pm
  • $5 per head or $20 Family  (max of 5)  – includes Pizza, Popcorn and Ice Cream for all.
  • Movies  – 1. Christopher Robin, 2. Johnny English Reborn

Day 1, 2 & 3 of Junior State Championships fast approaching

Age Group Managers will be seeking your nominations for State Championships soon. Please be prepared by reading the following to understand the make up of the 3 day Event.

Day 1 – Sunday 24th February

Day 1 consists of qualifying events for States Day 2/3 in Flags, Sprints, Cameron, Iron Person, and Board Relay. Distance Run, Board Rescue and Brace Relay will go down to medals on this day

Day 2 & 3 – Saturday 23rd March & Sunday 24th March

Day 2 consists of Individual Events, Heats and Finals for Board, Swim, and Wade. Finals for Iron Person, Sprints and Flags. In addition an All Age Taplin Relay is included.

Day 3 consists of Team Events, Heats and Finals for Beach Relay, Wade Relay and Swim Teams. Semi’s and Finals for Cameron and the Final for Board Relay. In addition Male and Female All Age Beach Relays are included

Please consider firstly if you are eligible and secondly if you are nominating for Day 1, 2 and 3 now.


Semaphore Juniors Club Championships – 2nd March 2019

On this day instead of training our age groups will be competing in our annual Junior Club Championships. Points will be awarded towards the end of season Age Group Championships and medals will be awarded to the Champion of each event in each Age Group.

On this day we will be having a BBQ and presentations after training down stairs so please hang around to celebrate all our junior event champions.

Semaphore Gold – 3rd March 2019

We are looking re introduce ‘The Semaphore Gold’ and endurance event previously run at the club. Starting this year with an internal event for Under 12 to Under 15 competitors with a view to a potential SLSSA Calendar date and invitation for all clubs in the future

Please Note: This is not a mandatory event for these age groups, you will be invited to nominate soon.

We have included some general information about the event below with more to follow in the near future.
