Nominations are now being sought for event 1 and 2 of the 2014/15 beach series.

The beach series includes flags and sprints and is open to male and female competitors in U13, U14, U15, U17, U19, Open and Masters.

Event 1 is to be held at Henley Beach SLSC on Friday 31st October – marshalling at 4.30pm for a 5pm start.

Event 2 is to be held at Somerton SLSC on Friday 21st November – marshalling at 4.30pm for a 5pm start.

Board and Ski Series – Event 2

Event 2 of the 2014/15 Board and Ski Series is to be held at Christies Beach SLSC on Saturday 25th October. Marshalling will be at 1.30pm for a 2pm start with an approximate finishing time of 4pm.

We had seven competitors ranging from U14 through to Open compete in the first event held at Southport so it would be great if we could get higher numbers for this, the last event in the series.

This event is open to all male and female U13/14/15 (board only) and U17/19/Open/Masters (board and ski) competitors.

If total numbers competing across all clubs are sufficient the aim is to have 3 races per age group per discipline.

“A warm welcome to everyone including our 47 come and try kids last weekend.

To assist us with our come and try kids, if anyone has any spare hi-vis tops that they can donate for these potential new nippers, it would be greatly appreciated. Please bring them upstairs and give them to one of the ladies on the registration table. With the weather predicted for Saturday we are expecting more come and try participants this weekend and if you have any spare hi-vis tops we will be very pleased.

This week we will again have pies, pasties, sausage rolls, donuts, coffee and salad rolls available from 11am upstairs have the a sausage sizzle at the end of training again this week and the cost for the sausage sizzle will be a $1.00 a sausage.

The lolly shop will be open at the conclusion of training this Saturday and thanks to Trudy for organising it, the lolly shop this week will be covered by the Under 11’s.

We congratulate those who competed in the ski and board series last weekend in Southport and a reminder to any Under 13’s and Under 14’s if you are interested in getting involved please speak with Karin on 0403221592.

Canteen Manager
As mentioned last week we are still looking for a canteen manager and anyone interested in taking on the role please contact Pat on 0419816911 or speak to me on Saturday.

Uniforms
The uniform shop will again be open from 10.45am to 12.15pm.

March Past and R&R
As mentioned last week if you are interested in finding out more about either march past or R&R please make sure you speak with your age group manager.

Anyone interested in finding out what is required to do your bronze please let me know.

Senior training camp

OPEN TO ALL SENIOR MEMBERS SRC AND ABOVE (beginners to experts, male and female).

SEMAPHORE CLUB TRAINING AND SURFING CAMP. Next weekend on Friday 17 and Saturday 18 October. Approximate cost is $22 a night (camp is two nights)at Chiton Rocks surf club.

Don’t know how to paddle a board or ski in waves? Now is your chance, there will be multiple training sessions a day to learn the basics or hone your skills.

Beach training with Jeff Bampton will re-commence this Sunday 12th October at 10am.

This is open to all U14s, Seniors and Masters.

Come along if you would like to improve your beach fitness as well as techniques in the disciplines of sprints, relays and flags.

First Aid State Champs

First Aid State Champs are to be held on Saturday 15th November (venue and time to be confirmed).

We are looking for members that are keen to participate in this event. First aid is a two person team event where competitor’s must utilise their first aid skills over a 12 minute scenario.

We are also looking for a coordinator that would be interested in developing a first aid squad over a number of years. You will be given assistance in learning and understanding how the event works.

First aid is run from U14s up to Open.

A reminder and clarification that Juniors training starts this Saturday 11/10/2014.

You can register online now but if you need assistance you can register on Saturday at the Club from 11am.

Be there for training from 12pm for a 1230 start and a 3pm finish

Food available from 1130am.

Free sausage sizzle after for everyone.
