Official Club Opening

The Minister for Emergency Services Corey Wingard has confirmed that he will officially reopen the club in a ceremony with the Mayor of Charles Sturt Angela Evans on Sunday 9th December commencing at 11.30am.

All members are invited to attend and join in to celebrate the completion of our wonderful new facilities. After the ceremony the President and members of the Board would like to invite members to join in with a light lunch thereafter.

More details will follow shortly.

Gin Day – Sunday 16th December

To get into the Christmas spirit, Semaphore SLSC is pleased to announce club junior parent and well known musician Jason Sym Choon will play some tunes on the balcony for us from 3pm. To accompany this our President, with the help of a couple of our gin connisuers, will also be making a variety of gin concoctions throughout the afternoon. Red and white bubbles will be $5 a glass all day.

Come along and bring your friends for a day of sunshine and sunsets, music, gin and bubbles.

Masters Success on the World Stage

Congratulations to our Masters representatives who competed in the Lifesaving World Championships this week.

Sean McKenzie was in the pool representing the Masters at Marion over the weekend.  He placed 6th in the 200m obstacle race, 9th in the 50m manikin carry and 13th in the 100m manikin tow with fins.

He then hit Glenelg beach where he picked up a 4th in the swim, 9th in the board and ski, and 5th in Ironperson.  Tina Williams completed the swim on the same day.  Brilliant effort from both!

Sean, Heather Eckert and Kate Newman braved horrid conditions on Wednesday.  Sean finishing the 2km run in 11th position, Kate in 8th position.

Sean competed in the sprints, completing his first heat.  Kate got blown over the starting line by the wind and was disqualified for a false start in her heat!

Heather had success in her first Sprint heat, finishing 5th and claiming a spot in the semi-final until officials changed the intake to 4.

Due to the weather no-one competed in the Flags.

A massive effort from all of our Masters over the week.

We now look forward to seeing our youngsters in action.

Cooper Clee and Ella Andrews hit the sand 27th – 29th November.

Nic Schulz and Connor Tunbridge will be in action 30th November – 2nd December.

We wish them all well and are proud that the Club will be represented on an International stage.

The Club’s Bar and Bistro continue to grow in popularity.  This week will see an engagement party held on Saturday night.  There is also a party on Sunday afternoon but this is not a private function so bar will be open to members.

Salmon with baby spinach and button mushrooms served with jacket potato and hollandaise sauce – $20.00

Surf Boat finds its place

The  Wonga Shoals Surf Boat, an important piece of Club memorabilia, has been lifted to new heights.  Thanks to the ingenious efforts of Wanga Robbins, Drewy Edwards & Paul Breden, the Surf Boat now has a new home in the Patrol Shed.  Well done!

Port Christmas Pagent

This Saturday 17th of November 2018

Meeting on Lipson St, Port Adelaide at around 5 – 5:30pm with the parade starting at 6pm.   We’re in section D –  I’m pretty sure its thats same section as last year so that puts us around the front of the railway museum.  But don’t worry You’ll see us well have a BIG RED SURF BOAT.

Please wear what ever Club gear you have, for the nippers their club hats or caps and training shirts are a must, a water bottle won’t go astray too.

We will be giving preference to the U7’s – U9’s for the Boat so please take that into consideration.  Parents please be aware that you are expected to stay with your kids, for one if they’re in the boat we need to ensure its adequately supervised whilst its in motion.

The kids on the ground will have plenty to do as well, e.g. giving out lollies and having lots of fun is just a part.

Thanks in advance for our float driver Gregg Newman, both for the driving and the car to tow the boat.

Uniting SA Christmas Appeal

This year we are sponsoring the Uniting SA Christmas Appeal.

Whilst our initial focus was injecting a Social Justice aspect into our Nippers program there is an opportunity for the entire club membership base to be involved in this rewarding experience.

Just drop a small non-perishable gift into the box next to the Christmas/Rescue Board before Friday 14th December, when they will be delivered to Uniting SA.

We thank you in advance for your generosity.
