With the government starting to map out changes to restrictions over coming weeks/months, Semaphore’s Board of Management are looking at what this might mean for our club.
A reminder Surf Life Saving Australia are running a Female Mentoring Program. Semaphore has a lot of females who are natural leaders and it would be great to see as many as possibly take up this opportunity.
SLSA are running The Female Mentoring Program that
aims to support and encourage confident, strong and skilled female representation within SLS, to strengthen leadership skills,
and identify, and develop the next generation of female leaders to position SLS for the future.
Semaphore’s Board of Management is very supportive of this initiative and encourages females within Surf Life Saving to take on more leadership roles and are happy to offer any assistance you may need to apply. Applications close on 15th June, 2020.
Team, it is time to start thinking ahead for the 3rd Saturday of every month for some IRB Crew and Driving Training down at Goolwa – 8am-1pm. We can use the Goolwa SLSC facilities and North Haven, Grange, Henley, West Beach, Brighton, Seacliff and Southport are all looking at doing something similar.
This will also be a good opportunity to use your skill set in some surf conditions under the watchful eyes of various IRB trainers from our club and other clubs.
We are looking at Saturday June 20th for our 1st session.
This season we would like to get as many new IRB crew and especially IRB drivers qualified as possible. With the jet ski being based at Semaphore now being an IRB driver is the next step you will need to take to be part of the RWC Team.
We would like an indication of numbers so we can plan training needs so please let us know by the 1st June 2020 if you are keen to undertake IRB crew or IRB drivers course so we can give a list of names to the training team.
Email email@example.com with your name and which course you are interested in doing.
Min requirement is 16 years old and Bronze Medallion qualified.
The above is all subject to lifting of COVID-19 restrictions which will allow us start this training but for now, just lock away that 3rd Saturday of every month, start looking into getting your boat licence and a wet suit and as soon as we are able to we can hit the ground – or water – running!
Talk to Heather, Drewie, Mick J, Wanga or Neil for more info.

A new addition to our Rescue Ready Facility with SLSSA now using this location as part of their Emergency Operation Group (EOG). This will also allow a closer partnership with Police Water Operations who are located down by the Semaphore jetty.
Thanks to Neil Bisset for making this happen, it allows us to increase our rescue capability and gives our members more skills to add to their repertoire.
