Membership Renewals for Season 2014/2015

Membership Renewals are fast approaching the deadline of Saturday 29 November. If you have not done your membership renewal for the 2014/2015 season by this date your Membership Card will become inactive as at that date which means you will not be able to get your discount over the bar. Renewals can be done online or you can attend the club to sign your membership form on Saturday mornings between 11.30 and 1.00pm. Also, if you have not renewed by the due date you will be considered a non financial member and as such are unable to patrol, compete, participate in or run any training courses, be eligible for the weekly Members Draw and you will not be covered to use the gym facilities, lifesaving equipment or participate in any surf sports training.

If you are unable to finalise your membership by the due date for financial reasons please contact the Membership Registrar, Carmel Kenny on 0402241841 or email mckenny@internode.on.net to discuss.

Members Draw

This weeks Members Draw will be held on Saturday 15 November between 4-5.00pm. Prize is $200. Member must be present to win.
Next weeks Members Draw will be held on Thursday 20 November between 7-8.00pm.

 

Boaties – Carnival this Sunday

As you are aware this upcoming Sunday there is a Carnival at Southport. Could all Boaties meet at the club by 6:15am Sunday.

Also please head to the club Saturday afternoon to pack the boats, ready for Sunday.

At LeFevre Portside Swimming Centre Victoria Road Largs Bay. Cost $4.00. Please note the change in start times. Senior swims times 7.30-8.30pm
Open to all proficient swimmers and club members from Under 9 to Under 14. For more information call Pat on 0419816911

Board Training
Friday 4.45pm at the club. Open to all who have completed their two ocean timed proficiency swims. Tina is doing a great job and we look forward to more joining us in the coming weeks.
A reminder if you participate in board training on a Friday afternoon and stay for a meal at the Club- don’t forget to collect your discount voucher from Pat

March Past
A reminder March Past Training starts at 11.15am please report to Mandy.

Open from 10.45am on Saturdays.

Will be open at the conclusion of training this week and thanks to those Under 11 parents for their help this week. Snacks and rolls will be available prior to training upstairs.

Seacliff Swim Paddle Run (SPR)

Saturday 22nd November – Seacliff Swim Paddle Run (SPR): For Surf Life Saving Junior athletes from ages 10 to 14 (up to U15’s) years as individuals and teams.
Course: U11-U13 500m Swim, 1 km board Paddle, 1 km Run. U14: 1 km Swim, 2 km Paddle, 2km Run. A great opportunity for the kids to have some fun by entering as an individual or as part of a team

Rescue & Resuscitation this season

The surf volley ball folks will be back with us during January – currently they are working with a number of other clubs and they will be back with us after Christmas.

Senior Carnival 1 Southport Sunday November 16

Senior Carnival 1 is to be held at Southport SLSC on Sunday 16th November. See attached circular for full information.

Events for male and female U15 (including U14s with SRC wishing to compete), U17, U19, and Open to include: –

Individual – sprints, flags, swim, ironperson, ski (U17 and above) and boards

Team – sprint relays, swim teams, taplin (U17 and above), cameron (U15), board relay and double skis (2nd year U17 and above)

The carnival point score system will be implemented so we would like as many competitors on the beach as possible with the aim being to accrue a good number of points and give our club a great start to the competitive season.

If you are keen to compete can you please email Kerry Schulz at kschulz1000@gmail.com by Wednesday 12th November 5pm.  Please let Kerry know all of the events (individual and team) that you wish to compete in.  Exact teams will be dependent on numbers and will be decided on the day.

Nominations are now being sought for event 1 and 2 of the 2014/15 beach series.

The beach series includes flags and sprints and is open to male and female competitors in U13, U14, U15, U17, U19, Open and Masters.

Event 1 is to be held at Henley Beach SLSC on Friday 31st October – marshalling at 4.30pm for a 5pm start.

Event 2 is to be held at Somerton SLSC on Friday 21st November – marshalling at 4.30pm for a 5pm start.

State Team – Expression of Interest

This year SLSSAs State and Representative Team Managemet Group are calling for expressions of interest from athletes wishing to be selected in the STATE TEAM.

This State team will consist of a senior team (6 male and 6 female open competitors) and a youth team (4 male and 4 female U19 plus 2 male and 2 female U17 competitors).

Boat Training Times

As per the meeting on the 12th of October the new training times are as follows:

 

U19s – Wednesday 1700

U23s – Monday 1700 and Wednesday 1700

Reserves – Tuesday 1700

WACCO – Tuesday 1700

Opens – Wednesday 1800

Mixalots (Seniors) – Tuesday 1800 and Friday 1700

Womens – Wednesday 1730

 

Also the Boaties dinner is $35 / head  and will be held on the 25th of October 2014

ASRL fees $40 per person due prior to Robe (Sims working on Subsidy)

Targeting 25 Oct before nippers a session down south to familiarise with some small surf

Anybody interested in competing at Robe – all names to Steve Sims please

 

Board and Ski Series – Event 2

Event 2 of the 2014/15 Board and Ski Series is to be held at Christies Beach SLSC on Saturday 25th October. Marshalling will be at 1.30pm for a 2pm start with an approximate finishing time of 4pm.

We had seven competitors ranging from U14 through to Open compete in the first event held at Southport so it would be great if we could get higher numbers for this, the last event in the series.

This event is open to all male and female U13/14/15 (board only) and U17/19/Open/Masters (board and ski) competitors.

If total numbers competing across all clubs are sufficient the aim is to have 3 races per age group per discipline.
